Mr. Tripathi’s research is focused on thin film silicon photovoltaic cell. His research interest extends to modeling, numerical simulation and development of thin film silicon photovoltaic cell and quantum well infrared photodetectors (QWIPs). Currently, the study is going on to improve the efficiency of thin film PV cells by applying the third generation concepts such as insertion of quantum wells or quantum dots in active layers. The materials of interest are hydrogenated amorphous silicon and hydrogenated micro-crystalline silicon. He had worked as Research Trainee for two years at Photonics division, Indian Institute of Astrophysics, Bangalore. Before joining PDPU, he had been working at Tata BP Solar India Ltd., Bangalore in the Cell Technology division. Recently he has been working on the performance enhancement of a-Si:H/ µc-Si:H photovoltaic cell by inserting µc-Si:H quantum wells. He specializes in Condensed Matter Physics.
