Dr. Omkar K. Jani received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of South Carolina in Electrical Engineering, and Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology in the field of photovoltaic science and engineering. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Kanoda Inc. (India, USA), an innovative photovoltaic solutions provider. He also serves on the board of NEPRA Resource Management Pvt. Ltd. (India) and Sonrisa Energies (USA). Dr. Jani has worked on projects involving the US Department of Energy (DOE), US Defense Advance Research Programs Agency’s (DARPA) as well as Government of Gujarat. His technical interests include grid-competitive renewable energy technologies, high-efficiency and cross-cutting photovoltaic technologies, energy policy, and waste and environmental management. Dr. Jani’s activities include reviewing publications for journals such as Applied Physics Letters, Journal of Applied Physics and Progress in Photovoltaics, chairing at IEEE photovoltaic specialist conferences, and giving seminars on photovoltaic research and technology. At Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI), Dr. Jani is involved in developing the solar energy laboratories and program for the GERMI Research & Innovation Center (GRIC) and the SSE.
